magnet therapy

In alternative medicine, use of applied magnetic fields to regulate potentially pathogenic disorders in the electrical charges of body cells and structures.

The physicians Hippocrates and Galen in the ancient world, Paracelsus in the Middle Ages, and more recently the founder of homeopathy, Samuel Hahnemann, practised magnet therapy. Today practitioners apply it as a stimulant of the body's self-healing processes, to enhance tissue repair and the healing of bone fractures, as an adjunct of structural therapies such as chiropractic, and as an alternative to needling in acupuncture.
