Mawlid an-Nabi

In Islam, the commemoration of the birth of the prophet Muhammad, who was born on 12 Rabiulawal. The annual event takes place on the 12th day of the third month in the Muslim calendar.

Many Muslims, while having high regard for Muhammad, do not hold major celebrations on this day, following the practice of Muhammad's own companions who did not celebrate his birthday. Marking the date began only after the prophet's death.
