meningioma

Tumour arising from the meninges. Slow-growing, it is nearly always benign. In the brain it leads to progressive neurological disability and sometimes epilepsy if untreated; in the spinal cord it results in paralysis of the lower limbs with loss of sensation. If it is accessible it can usually be removed in its entirety.
