mesosphere

Layer in the Earth's atmosphere above the stratosphere and below the thermosphere. It lies between about 50 km/31 mi and 80 km/50 mi above the ground.

Byline: ANI Washington, Nov 14 (ANI): The Naval Research Laboratory's (NRL) SHIMMER (Spatial Heterodyne Imager for Mesospheric Radicals) satellite has successfully observed Earth's highest clouds.
It is used to study changes in the ozone layer and to measure polar mesospheric summer echoes.
The scientists also used their lasers to study polar mesospheric clouds.
