contraction

The shortening of two words into one, where an apostrophe is used in place of the omitted letter or letters (I'm, aren't); or the abbreviation of a word to its first and last letters (Mr, St for ‘mister’, ‘street’, ‘saint’).

The use of contractions in written English (other than for dialogue) usually indicates a colloquial or familiar style.

As a component of the electron transport chain, CoQ10 plays a key role in energy production, and is therefore essential for all energy-dependent process, including myocardial contraction.
Similar to the structurally related drug amphetamine, ephedrine acts by directly stimulating the sympathomimetic system and the central nervous system (CNS, alpha and beta agonists), possibly increasing heart rate, myocardial contraction, peripheral vasoconstriction with associated elevations in blood pressure, bronchodilation, and mydriasis.
This could be especially important during exercise at higher heart rates, when the myocardial contraction inhibits coronary artery flow.
