Kettledrum of the Islamic world, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. It is used in military, religious, and ceremonial music. Made of silver, copper, brass, wood, or pottery the naqqara are usually played in pairs with the skin drum heads tuned at different pitches and beaten with a stick.
