national income and products accounts

Detailed description of the volume, composition, and use of a nation's output of goods and services. There are two basic components: the value of all goods and services produced (product side) and the costs incurred and payments received in the course of producing all goods and services (income side). These accounts are basic tools used in analysing current economic performance and in forecasting future developments. See also gross national product (GNP).
