Natron

Natron

A group of about eight lakes, situated in the Wadi el Natru or North Valley of the Libyan Desert, Egypt, 100 km/62 mi west of Cairo.

The locality is also noted for four monasteries, from whose libraries many valuable manuscripts have been added to European collections.

Narrated by Mariella Frostrup, overall the filmmakers tell the story of the Lake Natron flamingos to great effect.
Its troubles affect Tanzania by virtue of the Mara River which feeds into the Serengeti and Ewaso Ngiro River which, in turn, is the principal inflow of Lake Natron in Tanzania.
The action is set on Lake Natron in Northern Tanzania, where salt islands form.
