nerd

In computing, slang term for someone who seems to spend more time interacting with computers than with human beings. The term was originally an abusive one, applied to weedy, diffident but studious US high school students by their more sporty and outgoing colleagues.

My dictionary's definition of the word nerd is "a person, especially a man, who is not attractive and awkward or socially embarrassing.
