It was pretty devastating and what is particularly sad and rather poignant is that having lost Nil Desperandum in the build-up to the National last year, his owner, Michael Shone, sadly passed away a few days ago.
Less than four months ago, Williams sent the then Grand National favourite and Eider Chase winner Nil Desperandum to Uttoxeter to contest the Midlands National.
Venetia Williams, who only took over training Nil Desperandum at the start of this season, said: The horse shattered a pastern the second he landed.
