ninety percent club

Those companies whose share prices have plummeted by 90% or more from their peak. The term is used mostly with reference to dotcom companies, or ‘dotbombs’ as they are also known. Members of the ninety percent club include companies such as ICG Communications, a US company whose share price plunged from a peak of $39.25 to 25 cents in 2000 in less than a year (a loss of 99.4%), as well as UK companies QXL, Scoot, and Affinity Internet.
