Mouse that has a human oncogene (gene that can cause certain cancers) implanted into its cells by genetic engineering. Such mice are used to test anticancer treatments and were patented within the USA by Harvard University in 1988, thereby protecting its exclusive rights to produce the animal and profit from its research.
