Oolitic

Town in Lawrence County, southern Indiana, USA, 6 km/4 mi northwest of Bedford; population (1990) 1,400. Limestone quarries in the area provide the town with its major industry and its name. The quarries supplied stone for New York's Empire State Building (built 1931).
