lacrimal apparatus

Apparatus that supplies and drains the fluid needed to lubricate and cleanse the surface of the eye. The lacrimal gland in the upper eyelid secretes this fluid, which in quantity is known as tears; it drains through a tiny opening in the inner corner of the eye into the lacrimal canaliculus and from there passes into the nasal cavity by way of the nasolacrimal duct.
