Palmetto

Town in Manatee County, western Florida, USA, on the mouth of the Manatee River leading to Tampa Bay, opposite Bradenton; population (1990) 9,300. Principally a resort with boating and fishing facilities, it is also a packing and distribution centre for locally-produced vegetables and citrus fruit, and has some light industry.
