parakeet

Any of various small long-tailed parrots, order Psittaciformes, with a moderate beak. They include the ring-necked parakeets, genus Psittacula, which are very common in India and Africa, and cockatiels, and budgerigars, natives of Australia. The king parakeet is about the size of a magpie and has a red head and breast and green wings.
