paramagnetic material

Material that is weakly pulled towards a strong magnet. The effect is caused by unpaired electrons in the atoms of the material, which cause the atoms to act as weak magnets. A paramagnetic material has a fairly low magnetic susceptibility that is inversely proportional to temperature. See magnetism.
