percentage composition

In chemistry, the percentage by mass of each element in a compound. According to the law of constant composition, the proportions of the amounts of the elements in a pure compound are always the same and are independent of the method by which the compound was produced. The percentage composition of a compound is found by writing the formula, working out the relative molecular mass (RMM), and then dividing the relative atomic mass (RAM) of each element present by the RMM and multiplying by 100.
