phytomenadione

One form of vitamin K, a fat-soluble chemical found in green vegetables. It is involved in the production of prothrombin, which is essential in blood clotting. It is given to newborns to prevent potentially fatal brain haemorrhages.

Menaquinone-4 accumulation in various tissues after an oral administration of phylloquinone in Wistar rats.
This study was originally designed to assess the effect of vitamin K1, or phylloquinone, supplementation on changes in bone mineral density and vascular calcification.
Research: Investigators evaluated the association between dietary intake of phylloquinone (vitamin K1) and menaquinones (vitamin K2) and total and advanced prostate cancer in the Heidelberg cohort of the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition.
