Piła

Capital of Piła province, Poland, on the River Gwda, a tributary of the Noteć, 77 km/48 mi north of Poznań; population (2002) 75,100. Machinery and glass are manufactured, and livestock and timber traded. It is a railway junction. Until 1945 it was in German Pomerania.

With its close links to the Italian ski fields of Courmayeur, Cervinia, Champoluc, Gressoney, Pila and La Thuile, Aosta is an idyllic location in which to enjoy the Alpine sports that the region has to offer.
