Arapaima

Genus of primitive teleost fishes belonging to the order Osteoglossiformes, related to the salmon and herring. A. gigas is the largest freshwater fish in the world, attaining 4.5 m/15 ft in length, and weighing 200 kg/440 lb. In South America it is captured by spearing for exportation.

Bruce later joins Tapioca, a legend who claims to be able to "hear" fish, as they go into the flooded forests of the Mamiraua reserve to try to find the pirarucu, the largest freshwater fish in the world.
Among the most delightful footage are abundant shots of the incredibly diverse animals, birds and fish of the region, including jaguars, monkeys, toads, snakes, sloths, tapir, pink dolphins, electric eels, piranhas and the 300-pound pirarucu fish.
