component| In physics, one of two or more vectors, normally at right angles to each other, that add together to produce the same effect as a single resultant vector. Any vector quantity, such as force, velocity, or electric field, can be resolved into components chosen for ease of calculation. For example, the weight of a body resting on a slope can be resolved into two force components (see resolution of forces); one normal to the slope and the other parallel to the slope. |
