An inquest jury recorded a verdict of unlawful killing last year but the Crown Prosecution Service announced it would not be pressing charges against his employer, North Eastern Roofing, of Bridgend.
Oppenheim, who strenuously denied punching the woman, said yesterday: "They [the police] gave me the option of pressing charges against the woman, and gave my staff the option of pressing charges against the guy, but I decided not to take it any further.
Among the 41 respondents who had considered pressing charges but did not, reasons included fear of retribution, fear of disapproval of fellow staff or administration, not knowing they could do so, and not believing the assailant was responsible.
