process theology

In Christianity, an attempt to absorb evolutionary ideas into theology and philosophy by seeing God as part of a wider evolutionary drive towards greater fulfilment and perfection in all aspects of existence. It began in the early 20th century under religious philosopher Alfred Whitehead and US philosopher and theologian Charles Hartshorne (1897– ), and has been influential in the USA and UK in presenting a positivist attitude to modern science, though this has often led to an uncritical acceptance of all scientific developments.
