conciliation

Process of helping the parties in a dispute to reach a mutually-acceptable agreement (one acceptable to both side). In industrial relations, it is where the two sides in a dispute seek to resolve it with the help of a third, disinterested (uninvolved) party. ACAS (the Advisory, Conciliation, and Arbitration Service) provides a conciliation service.
