psionic medicine

In alternative medicine, system of medical diagnosis and therapy developed by British physician George Lawrence in the 1930s and subsequently. The underlying belief is that the body is strongly influenced by many energy sources, such as electromagnetic fields and radiation. Practitioners believe that illnesses are caused by radiation and ultraviolet light, which produces waves (miasms) which manifest in the body as circles that group near infected areas in the body. Psionics uses dowsing to locate these areas from minute electrical variations that sensitive individuals can detect with a special rod. The disease is then treated with electrical currents.

Proponents claim that diagnosis can also be effected by dowsing a small blood sample with the aid of a pendulum to ascertain deficiencies or imbalances affecting the body's vitality, and treatment is by the administration of homeopathic remedies (see homeopathy) to combat illness and restore the vital balance.
