quality circle

In business, a small group of production workers concerned with problems relating to the quality, safety, and efficiency of their product. Key characteristics of quality circles are size (8-12 members); voluntary membership; natural work groups, rather than artificially created ones; autonomy in setting their own agenda; access to senior managers; and a relatively permanent existence. Quality circles were popularized in Japan.
