Opera by Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari (libretto by G Pizzolato, based on Goldoni's comedy), produced at Munich, Germany, on 19 March 1906. The opera was produced in England as The School for Fathers at Sadler's Wells, London, on 7 June 1946. In the story, Lunardo and Maurizio decide their children, Lucieta and Filipeto, should marry. Having forbidden the couple to meet before the wedding, the parents are foiled when Filipeto manages to meet Lucieta in disguise and they immediately fall in love.
