Policy for moving people (usually squatters) out of their homes to other areas where they are provided with basic dwellings. This is common in urban areas of low-income countries; for example, in Mumbai (formerly Bombay), India. Resettlement on a large scale took place in Indonesia in the 1980s, and was known as transmigration.
