rocket

Any of several plants of different genera, all belonging to the Cruciferae family. Sea rocket Cakile maritima grows on sandy shores around Britain and Europe; it has a long tap-root and fleshy leaves. London rocket Sisymbrium irio appeared in abundance in London after the Great Fire of 1666. It is now very rare. Garden or salad rocket Eruca sativa is a Mediterranean species grown for its leaves, which are eaten in salads, and its seeds, which yield an oil similar to that of rape.
