sailfish

Marine bony fish. The snout is long and pointed and the dorsal fin is unusually large. It is blue above, silver below, and over 3 m/10 ft long. It can swim up to 100 km/60 mi in pursuit of the fish it eats.

Classification

Sailfish belong to genus Istiophorus in the order Perciformes, class Osteichthyes.
