outwash

Sands and gravels deposited by streams of meltwater (water produced by the melting of a glacier). Such material may be laid down ahead of the glacier's snout to form a large flat expanse called an outwash plain.

Outwash is usually well sorted, the particles being deposited by the meltwater according to their size – the largest are deposited next to the snout while finer particles are deposited further downstream.
