sari

Main outer garment of Indian women, worn over a short blouse and a petticoat into which part of the fabric is tucked and folded at the waist to form a skirt. The remaining end is draped over the shoulder. It consists of a piece of fabric 100 cm/40 in wide by 4.5–6.4 m/5–7 yd long, usually brilliantly coloured silk or cotton.
