sarong

Traditional dress of the Malay archipelago and the Pacific islands, where it is worn by both men and women. It is also worn in some parts of southeast Asia and Africa. The sarong consists of a piece of fabric, about 4.5-6.5 m/5-7 yd long, which is wrapped around the body and tied at the waist or over the chest. Sarongs became popular garments in the West for summer fashion.
