scolion

Short lyrical poem of ancient Greece, intended as a drinking song. Its invention was ascribed to Terpander, while Alcaeus, Sappho, Simonides, and Pindar also composed scolia. The most famous scolion is that of Callistratus in praise of Harmodius and Aristogiton.
