| In medicine, one of a group of drugs that prevent the uptake of serotonin in neurones, resulting in an increase in its concentration in the brain. They are used in the treatment of depression. Fluoxetine (Prozac) is an example of a commonly prescribed selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitor. |
