seven point plan| Aide memoire for recruiters seeking to identify the qualities of a candidate. Once the recruiter has used the seven point plan to elicit the qualities of the candidate they can then be compared with a list of the qualities required for a position, as well as with the qualities of the other candidates. |
| The criteria in the seven point plan are: physical - appearance, bearing, health, physique, quality of speech; attainments - achievements, education, training, experience; general intelligence - analytical ability, cognitive ability, creativity; special aptitudes - construction, manual dexterity, mathematical, scientific; interests - intellectual, practical, social, sports; disposition - compassion, humour, maturity, optimism, passionate, self-reliance; and circumstances - geographical mobility, availability at short notice, but not discriminatory factors such as marital status, age, sex, unless specifically relevant to the job. The seven point plan was conceived by English occupational psychologist Alec Rogers. |
