Small mammal Suncus etruscus, measuring from snout to tail less than 8 cm/3 in (body and tail are about the same length). Its fur is ashy red above, and lighter beneath; the tail is covered with short hairs, with rings of longer white hairs; the ears project from the fur. It is found in Southern Europe, from France to the Black Sea, and in North Africa.
