sone

Unit of subjective loudness. A tone of 40 decibels above the threshold of hearing with a frequency of 1,000 hertz is defined as one sone; any sound that seems twice as loud as this has a value of two sones, and so on. A loudness of one sone corresponds to 40 phons.
