1905, Chopin's Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise, followed by Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Beethoven's "Appassionata" sonata was followed by Tao's own Fantasy-Sonata, John Corigliano's multimovement Etude Fantasy, two of the Moment Musicaux by Rachmaninoff, and Chopin's Andante spianato et Grande Polonaise brillante. Chopin, too, makes only a fleeting appearance, with the Andante Spianato et Grande Polonaise Brillante and some waltzes (in Lang Lang's Prom on August 31). |
