In computing, screen displayed by a PC while it loads its operating system and other resident software. Well-known startup screens include the Windows ‘flying window’ motif and the Macintosh ‘smiling face’. It is also possible to create a custom start-up screen, perhaps incorporating a favourite image or corporate logo.
