snoringLoud noise during sleep made by vibration of the soft palate (the rear part of the roof of the mouth), caused by streams of air entering the nose and mouth at the same time. It is most common when the nose is partially blocked. Sleep apnoea causes loud snoring that wakes the sufferer repeatedly throughout the night, causing chronic tiredness.
