stutter

In medicine, a disruption to the normal flow of speech. Stuttering usually becomes apparent between the ages of two and five years. It is more common in boys and genetic and environmental factors contribute to its development. Stuttering can be improved considerably by speech therapy. Stuttering rarely develops after puberty and it usually occurs as a result of brain damage.
