standardization

Regulation of a company's products so that products are homogeneous. Uniformity and interchangeability of products and parts allows mass production of those products and the resulting economy of scale. Against the benefits that standardization brings must be weighed the restrictions on product range and the inability to deliver highly customized products.

RAWALPINDI, November 06, 2009 (Balochistan Times): The sale of non-brand drinks and other daily commodities has been banned in Sunday Bazaars of the city aimed to save the people from harmful affects of substandard commodities.
In 2001, Lancet reported that, according to WHO statistics, India produces as much as 35% of the fake and substandard drugs in the world.
People are not able to discriminate between spurious, misbranded and substandard medicines.
