Sunrise

City in southeastern Florida, 11 km/7 mi west of Fort Lauderdale; population (1990) 64,400. One of many suburban cities around Fort Lauderdale, it is a home for retired citizens and others moving into the Sunbelt. Also a commercial centre, it is home to Sawgrass Mills, a huge outlet mall.
