syzygy

In astronomy, alignment of three celestial bodies, usually the Sun, Earth, and Moon or the Sun, Earth, and another planet. A syzygy involving the Sun, Earth, and Moon occurs during solar and lunar eclipses.

More loosely, the term refers to the Moon or another planet when it is in conjunction or opposition, although generally it is not then exactly in a straight line with the Earth and Sun.
