tournament![]() A 16th-century engraving of the tournament to celebrate the marriage of Philip II of Spain to Isabella, daughter of Henry II of France. The picture is from the French Roman de Petit Jean de Saintre, dating from 1470. Jean de Saintre was a French chevalier, or knight. Then the King said to her, 'I will appoint a tournament in your honour, and I will invite all the princes in the world to it, and if any one of them pleases you, you shall marry him.
