The slide trumpet, a musical instrument of the trumpet type. It was used in Germany in the 18th century and had the advantage before the invention of valves of being capable of producing more notes than the fundamental harmonics by the temporary changes in the length of the tube, as in the trombone. It never attained a wide currency.
