tucu-tuco

Any member of the genus Ctenomys, a burrowing South American rodent about 20 cm/8 in long with a 7 cm/3 in tail. It has a large head, sensitive ears, and enormous incisor teeth.

Tucu-tucos spend most of their time below ground in a burrow system, generally one animal to a burrow. The name tucu-tuco is an attempt to imitate the bubbling call.
