underpopulation

Too few people for the resources available in an area (such as food, land, and water). Underpopulated countries, like Canada and Australia, have a vast wealth of resources that could be exploited, such as food, energy, and minerals, and are able to export these commodities whilst maintaining a high standard of living. They have well-developed economic infrastructures and relatively highly skilled populations with generally high incomes.
